How do antioxidants affect your skin?

We often hear about the benefits of antioxidants for both the body and skin. This includes everything from anti-carcinogenic properties to reducing the signs of aging. But what can antioxidants really do? What’s the impact on our skin? Let’s dive into the world of antioxidants!

Firstly, what is “oxidation”? You know how an apple or avocado become brown after being cut open and left sitting around? This is a perfect example of the phenomenon of oxidation. The body naturally produces antioxidants as protection, however, with added stress, fatigue, sun, pollution and tobacco, our antioxidants can become less effective. Under those circumstances, the body reacts by releasing a large quantity of free radicals. It is these free radicals that damage skin cells, hence the appearance of blemishes, wrinkles and fine lines.

This is where antioxidants come into play! They act like a barrier against free radicals, preventing them from attacking our skin cells.

Antioxidants are therefore essential for maintaining a healthy body – and healthy skin!

Antioxidants are found naturally in food, but not in large enough quantities to have a visible effect on skin. This explains why, in recent years, there are more and more skin products that contain antioxidants. Studies have shown significant results as early as in the first week of use, making skin smoother and more luminous. After a few weeks, a noticeable decrease in blemishes, wrinkles and fine lines has been observed.

In concrete terms, applying an antioxidant cream in the morning will protect your skin from various “aggressors” that you may encounter during the day. Meanwhile, applying an antioxidant cream in the evening will repair your skin during the night, when cell renewal is most important, thereby preparing skin for the next day.

Everyone is unique, as is every person’s skin.

It is up to you to decide which type of cream works best, makes you feel good, and offers the most significant results.

Why not start by exploring our skin care products?!
